Single Documents

Under construction.

The Single Document page lets you closely examine the linguistic features of one document at a time. You can highlight up to five tags, visualize where they occur, and download a color-coded version of your document.

What You Can Do

  • Select a document from your corpus to explore in detail
  • Highlight up to five tags (POS or DocuScope) in the text
  • Visualize where tags occur using a density plot
  • Download a color-coded Word file of the document
  • Reset and select a new document to explore

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Choose a Document

  • Use the sidebar to select a document from your loaded corpus.
  • If no documents are available, make sure you have loaded and processed a target corpus.

2. Select Tagset and Tags

  • Choose between Parts-of-Speech or DocuScope tags.
  • For POS, you can select either General or Specific tags.
  • Use the multiselect menu to pick up to five tags to highlight in the document.
Important

You can highlight a maximum of five tags at a time. If you select more, you’ll see a warning.

3. Visualize Tag Locations

  • Click Tag Density Plot to see where your selected tags occur in the document.
  • The plot shows tag positions as a percentage of the document’s length, helping you spot patterns or clusters.
Tip

The density plot is useful for seeing if certain features (like verbs or rhetorical moves) cluster at the beginning, middle, or end of a text.

4. View and Download the Document

  • The main panel shows your document with selected tags highlighted in color.
  • Below the text, you’ll see a frequency table for the tags in your document.
  • Use the Download to Word? toggle in the sidebar to enable download.
  • Click Download to Word to save a color-coded version of your document.

5. Reset and Explore Another Document

  • Use the Select a new document button in the sidebar to reset and choose a different document.

Tips for New Users

Tip
  • Try highlighting different combinations of tags to see how linguistic features interact.

  • Download your color-coded documents for annotation or sharing.

If You Get Stuck

Important
